Bosdet and Taylor sign new deals to stay at JUFC

Joondalup United is delighted to confirm that James Bosdet and Anthony Taylor will remain with the club for the upcoming season.

Joondalup United is delighted to confirm that James Bosdet and Anthony Taylor will remain with the club for the upcoming season.

Both players have been loyal to JUFC for a number of years and were key components of Coach Nick Jennings’ PlayStation 4 National Premier League (NPL) squad in 2017.

Bosdet has been one of the outstanding goalkeepers in Saturday football in his four seasons to date, while Taylor will make it a decade at JUFC having been with the team since the Sunday League days.

“It’s great to have secured Bozza and Tony this week; both lads are JUFC through and through and would run through a brick wall for the club and their team mates,” said JUFC NPL Operations Manager Rudy Proctor.

“Tony has been at the club for ten seasons and has played for us at every level from Sunday Amateurs to NPL, and his versatility means he has always been a very important player in every squad he has been apart of.

“Last year saw him play a new role at right back and he was outstanding considering he had previously been a forward or winger.”

Bosdet, meanwhile, took on more responsibility last season and stood in as captain when Arran Maplestone and Josh Whitmore were absent.

“Bozza on his day the best keeper in this state and for him the challenge is now to perform to his highest level week in week out in the NPL, in 2018 we will need him to lead by example and win us points every week,” said Proctor.

“He is now in his fifth consecutive season with JUFC and is one of our experienced players now so this will be a big year for him.”

Despite losing some key players to other NPL clubs this offseason, Proctor believes that JUFC will once again be competitive at the top level.

“The NPL first team squad is starting to come together nicely now, the most important thing for us is the JUFC boys that love this club are signing on for 2018,” he said.

“It looks like three teams are going to be relegated we need to make sure all players in our squad are up for a battle and will be there for each other in what is no doubt going to tough NPL in 2018.”

Bosdet and Taylor join Alex Wild, Matty Sparrow, Johnny Chalmers and Elliot Tattersall in the JUFC first team squad with more signings to come.
