Experienced duo re-commit for 2022 State League season

JOONDALUP UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB is pleased to announce the double signing of Jamie Stewart and Gary Hill.

Both players were part of the 2021 campaign which saw the team finish fourth in the State Division 1 league and bagging the Top Four Cup win.

Although Stewart picked up an injury in the latter part of the season, he was an important player for head coach Nick Jennings.

“I would like to thank the club and coaches for the opportunity to re-sign with the squad and look forward to another season,”said Stewart, 32.

The striker is joined by Hill, an experienced centre-back and 2020 Coach’s Player award winner.

Hill too played a crucial role in the 2021 campaign, having to step in on several occasions to strengthen the defence as the competition for the top four spots were tightening.

“It was a great season and I am pleased to have been of service. I am looking forward to another season with Joondalup United,” said Hill, 38.

Jennings is delighted both players have re-signed with the team.

“These players understand the team and the way we play and are crucial additions to the squad. With professional work ethic and the experience they have, I look forward to working with them,”said Jennings.

Joondalup United president Ghaz Ramli also welcomed the players.

”Both players played crucial roles last season and understand the club culture. It is an honour to have a hardworking player like Jamie (Stewart) and one of the best players the club has seen in Gary (Hill) back in squad,” said Ramli.
