Smith’s return between the sticks is a great coup for head coach Nick Jennings and co.

“Joey was excellent after he joined us midway through last season, and retaining him for the forthcoming season was a big priority,” said Jennings

“He is an experienced state league keeper, and a great character to have around the playing group,” he added.

Smith is also pleased with his returned to the United: “This is a great club with great members and I am pleased to be with Joondalup United once again.”

“It’s going to be another challenging season but I am ready to give my best,” added Smith who had six clean sheets last season.

Smith’s return to don the number one shirt is a big win for the club.

“Joey (Smith) is a hero for all of our junior keepers and an inspiration to our senior ones who will aspire to be in that number one shirt. Looking forward to watching him in action again this year and he guards our goal,” said Ramli.
