“I’m looking forward to joining Joondalup United and am happy with the atmosphere after meeting with Nick (Jennings) and Steve (Flint) and some of the players,”said Johns, a centre-back.

Johns, not a stranger to the league developed his game under former Perth Glory coach Kenny Lowe from 2011-2013 during his stint in the National Training Camp (NTC).

He then played for Perth Glory Under-20s in the National Premier League (NPL WA) and later moved into the National Youth League squad under then coach John Gibbons between 2014-2017. He then played for ECU Joondalup in 2018 before taking a break to focus on his studies.

“Johns is a young and exciting talent and has been on my target list for some time now and I’m excited to be working with him for the upcoming season,”said head coach Nick Jennings.

“He brings a wealth of experience and professionalism to uplift the squad and I am sure will gel well with the rest of the team,”added Jennings.

Club president Ghaz Ramli welcomes Johns to United: “Ben (Johns) is a much sought after player within the league and I am sure has been offered by many other clubs. However, for him to choose Joondalup United proves that the club is building on the right momentum. His professionalism on and off the field and his attitude to his teammates and peers is an instant fit to the players and backroom staff. Welcome to Joondalup United, Ben.”
