JUFC’s Rooney selected for Gold Fields State Girls U14 squad

Joondalup United youngster Isabella Rooney has been chosen to represent Western Australia as part of the Gold Fields State Girls U14 squad.

The team will fly to China for the Jinshan International Youth Football Championships, which will take place between August 21 to 26.

“Isabella is having a fantastic season again this year helping her team into the top six in the National Premier League (NPL) 13s and quarter finals of the 13s Cup,” says Darren Brogan, JUFC’s Junior NPL Technical Director.

“Her passion and commitment to the team have been outstanding and some of the reasons why she has been selected to play for the State 14 Girls.”

“Playing consistently and against top teams every week is giving her so much confidence and developing her talents to further herself in the game.”

According to Football West, the Jinshan Championships will consist of approximately four to six games, depending on results, plus a pre-tournament game against a local club that is to be confirmed.

Brogan believes that playing top level football will give Rooney an advantage that the other State players don’t have exposure to as she plays in the NPL while the rest are in Division One.

Indeed, Rooney is the only player outside of the Girls National Training Centre (NTC) program to make the State Team for 2019.

“It’s a great achievement and as a coach I couldn’t be more proud of her with the way she conducts herself in and around the club with her tremendous commitment to training and her positive attitude,” says Brogan.

Congratulations to Isabella, and best of luck for the trip to China!
