JOONDALUP UNITED have secured experience forwards Gavin Knight and Daniel Corbett for the 2022 State League Division 1 season.
Knight, who started his football career in Perth with Joondalup United is returning to don the dark blue colours having an illustrious goal-scoring career in State and National Premier League sides including Bayswater City and Sorrento (2013). He then moved to Gwelup Croatia before a stint at Swan United then returning Bayswater. His last two seasons were with Stirling Lions in which he helped them to the State Division 1 title.
Corbett, no stranger to the game is another experience striker having played last three season with Forrestfield United comes to United to help boost the squad.
“We are excited and am looking forward to having them in our side,” head coach Nick Jennings.
Jennings along with his long-time assistant Steve Flin,t led the side to a fourth place finish on the ladder but bagged the Top 4 Cup in the final. This season the pair will be boosted with the assistance of Blaine Merredew and Ben Fairbairn in the coaching squad.
“It feels like coming home as Joondalup United was the first club I played for back in 2010,”said Knight who was part of the Amateur side then.
“Joondalup United was my first club I played for when I moved here and I said I would return to JUFC again and as this will be my last season what a way to finish my career with the team I started with,” said Knight who bagged 20 goals for Stirling Lions in the 2021 season.
Corbett is also looking forward to joining the side and being part of the club.
“It’s a great club with rich history. I’m looking forward in being part of it and getting in blue,” said Corbett who had a title season with Olympic Kingsway before his time at Forrestfield United as well.
