Joondalup United’s NPL Development 11s picked up their first win of the 2018 season when they beat Kingsway Olympic on Tuesday night.

They began their 11s Blue (Metro) campaign with a 4-0 loss to ECU Joondalup but rebounded in style to see off Kingsway by four goals to two.

Kingsway took an early lead at Prince Regent Park but JUFC showed great character to turn the game on its head, much to the delight of coach Paddy Rooney.

“The boys were still struggling to kick into gear but we eventually found our feet and went 4-1 up with goals from Sam Rooney and a Dean Smythe hat-trick,” he said.

“Kingsway scored a late consolation goal making it 4-2 at the final whistle.”

Next up for JUFC is a home game against Subiaco AFC on April 29 and even though they will be missing some players for the game, Rooney is believes that they can again give a good account of themselves.
