After joining the State Under 18s side under then coach Troy Reid, at the age of 17, the goalscorer was quick to grab the attention of the State Reserves side earning him promotion and spot with the Reserves.

In 2020, he was even awarded an opportunity by State side head coach Nick Jennings to play in the first which he did not disappoint eventually awarding him with a full time contract for the 2021 season.

“Joondalup United is a great club and I would like to thank the club and coaches for the opportunity to represent this club,”said the 19-year-old.

Joel who was nursing a injury in 2021 managed to get on the score sheet three times and played an important role in the fourth place finish and Top 4 Cup winning performance.

“He is young, energetic and hungry a perfect combination for a striker. He has proved his maturity on and the pitch and a pleasure to work with,” said Jennings.

Interestingly, there is another Sollitt who is making the club proud. Sollit’s younger brother Louis who was part of the club’s NPL Juniors Under-15 side last season has been offered a spot in Perth Glory’s Academy Under-16 side for 2022.

“Joondalup United is a strong believer in player progression and pathway. The backbone of the club is the junior progression towards our senior side. Joel (Sollitt) is a product of our State system and we hope many more young players like him come up the ranks based on their merit and performance. Well done to Joel and this is a positive reflection of the Sollitt family who are producing champion athletes,” said club president Ghaz Ramli.
