JUFC to return to its roots at the heart of Joondalup

In an exciting development, Joondalup United Football Club (JUFC) is set to return to its original home ground at Pentanet Stadium (HBF Arena) in Joondalup. JUFC will host Subiaco AFC on July 22 at Pentanet Stadium in what is anticipated to be a grand day for the club. All three state teams (18s, Reserves and State) will play at 11am, 1pm and 3pm respectively as our JUFC women’s side finish of the day with a game under lights at 5pm.

This reunion has been made possible through a groundbreaking partnership between JUFC and the West Perth Football Club (WPFC), the reigning WAFL premiership club. The collaboration between these two sporting powerhouses is a result of JUFC’s constant search fora home to expand itself both off and especially on the pitch and it is hoped that this arrangement will spark a wave of enthusiasm within the community.

The history of JUFC dates back to the year 2000 when the club first found its footing at Pentanet Stadium which was then known as Joondalup Arena. It served as the birthplace of our ambitious football club, laying the foundation for our journey. Over the years, JUFC has grown steadily, attracting talented players, dedicated coaches, passionate supporters and even producing stars of the future.

However, due to various circumstances, the club had to relocate to alternative venues, which left a void in the hearts of those who witnessed its early days at the Arena. The club currently operates from four different parks with no facility to be called home. Now, thanks to the visionary partnership with WPFC, JUFC has the opportunity to come full circle and reconnect with its roots.

The partnership entails hosting one State Division 1 game this season at the iconic Pentanet Stadium , which is the home ground of WPFC. Situated within the expansive HBF Arena, the stadium is renowned for its exceptional facilities and stunning aesthetics. Pentanet Stadium has undergone significant renovations over the years, resulting in one of the finest WAFL grounds in the league. The venue boasts an array of state-of-the-art amenities, including a fully equipped bar and food outlet, ensuring spectators can enjoy a complete matchday experience. The seating capacity of 3000 guarantees that JUFC members and football fans can revel in the excitement of the game while basking in the atmosphere of this exceptional sporting venue.

Not only does this partnership mark a return to JUFC’s roots, but it also opens the possibility of a long-term commitment from both clubs to foster local talent and create opportunities in both sporting codes in the northern part of Perth. In a unique collaboration, the clubs are coming together from different sporting codes in the interest of developing sports in the northern corridor. Furthermore, the return to Pentanet Stadium strengthens the bond between JUFC and its loyal supporters. For long-standing fans who witnessed the club’s humble beginnings at this very ground, the homecoming will evoke a sense of nostalgia and reignite the passion that once burned brightly. The opportunity to watch JUFC compete in a top-class facility, surrounded by fellow supporters, will undoubtedly create an electric atmosphere that further cements the club’s place within the community.

“WPFC is excited to see how this relationship evolves. Joondalup United are an important part of the local community and have been struggling with facilities for a long time. We welcome all their fans to Pentanet Stadium for what will be a great display of sports working with sports,” said WPFC CEO Joe McCarthy.

“JUFC would like to thank West Perth Football Club for their partnership and giving our club an opportunity to build on. We would also like to thank VenuesWest for their support in making this one off game a reality with the hope of a positive future,” said JUFC President Ghaz Ramli.

JUFC members will receive instructions via email regarding the match  attendance. The club urges all members, fans, past players and other club supporters to save the date (Saturday, July 22, 2023) as it is going to be one to remember. More information to follow.
