BLAINO ON THE WHEEL: Merredew appointed as JUFC Amateurs Head Coach for the 2024 Season

JOONDALUP UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB are thrilled to announce the appointment of Blaine Merredew as the Head Coach for Joondalup United Football Club’s Amateur Premier Division team for the upcoming 2024 season. Blaine’s exceptional dedication and expertise in football coaching make him the ideal candidate to lead our team to success.

“Blaine is no stranger to the club. Having seen the club grow over the years, we are confident that he would be able to lead a new generation of our Amateur side whilst keeping the JUFC identity and club culture,” said club president Ghaz Ramli.

“We have faced consecutive relegation battles as the league gets more competitive. Blaine has brought JUFC glory in the past and we trust his leadership will ensure the team cements it’s place in the league moving forward,” added Ramli.

“I would like to thank JUFC for the opportunity. As a long serving club member, I started my career at Joondalup United Sundays (Amateurs) and feels good to be back,” said Merredew.

“I am grateful to take on this project to rebuild, bring a new culture and make JUFC Amateurs great again. It won’t be easy but I’m always a 100% committed to what I do and aim to bring back success to the setup after a few tough years,” he added.

Employment History: Blaine’s journey with Joondalup United Football Club spans over a decade, starting as a player and progressing into various coaching roles within the club. His coaching experience includes:

  • 2014-15: Amateur Division 2 Reserves Coach – 1st Place
  • 2015-16: State Division 1 U18s Head Coach – 4th Place
  • 2016-17: NPL U18s Head Coach – 7th Place (first season rebuild)
  • 2017-18: NPL U20s Assistant Coach – Last Position
  • 2018-19: State Reserves Head Coach – 2nd Place
  • 2019-20: State Reserves Head Coach – 1st Place
  • 2020-21: State Reserves Head Coach – 6th Place (season rebuild)
  • 2021-22: State First Team 2nd Assistant Coach – 6th Place
  • 2022-23: State First Team/Reserves 2nd Assistant Coach (half season due to work and family commitments)

Licenses/Certifications: Blaine Merredew brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the role, supported by his licenses and certifications, including:

  • FFA Senior C License
  • FFA Senior B License (In Progress)
