Chalmers returns to JUFC for 2018 NPL WA season

Joondalup United is delighted to confirm the re-signing of Johnny Chalmers ahead of the 2018 NPLWA season.

Joondalup United is delighted to confirm the re-signing of Johnny Chalmers ahead of the 2018 NPLWA season.

Having won the State League as a JUFC player in 2016, Chalmers made it back-to-back titles with Western Knights last season.

He was a crucial member of the Knights side that beat Sorrento to claim the 2017 State Cup.

Chalmers’ stint at the Knights also included an FFA Cup tie against Gold Coast City FC which was a great experience for the 23-year-old.

“Getting Johnny back to club is a great coup, he is a great lad that all the boys and supporters love and with his ability and tensity he deserves to be playing at the highest level of football in WA,” said JUFC NPL Operations Manager Rudy Proctor.

“With a few new signings getting very close we are really looking forward to getting the lads back in for pre-season and improving on last year’s efforts in the NPL.”

A ball-playing midfielder who can also play in defence, Chalmers will be a huge asset to JUFC in the upcoming campaign.

In other club news, it is with great sadness that we announce the departures of club captain Arran Maplestone and vice-captain Josh Whitmore.

Both players have been fantastic servants to JUFC in their time at the club, helping us to rise to the highest level of football in the state.

Unfortunately JUFC is unable to compete financially with other clubs in the NPL and we support the decision made by both to pursue other opportunities.

Keep an eye out for more JUFC signings in the coming weeks.
