COVID-19 – JUFC Executive Committee update to members

The JUFC Executive Committee wishes to confirm the club’s stance following recent statements from the Western Australia’s Premier and the Football West CEO.

The Joondalup United Executive Committee would like to update you on the club’s stance following the recent statements from the Western Australia’s Premier Mark McGowan and the Football West CEO James Curtis.

Firstly we hope you’re all going okay and coping with the ongoing restrictions. We understand how frustrating this has been for everyone, however we are all very fortunate to be living in WA and hopefully we are through the worst of the coronavirus and are now starting to see things gradually return back to normal for us all.

Whilst the current situation may have seen some restrictions lifted, unfortunately, the Premier has not yet relaxed any restrictions for community contact sport (e.g. football, AFL, etc). Therefore we must reiterate at this point we are still not allowed to return to full training, friendlies or games.

During this ban all current bookings with the City of Joondalup have been suspended meaning that all shire grounds and sporting fields and facilities are closed and will not be available to use for clubs until advised by the State Government.

Football West are following guidelines set by Football Federation Australia (FFA) and along with the local Council, are all working in conjunction with advice from the State Government and Health Officials. In turn we are following this advice to ensure the safety of all members.

As things progress we are sure we will see further restrictions lifted and eventually all community sport will be giving the go ahead to return to normal.

Over the coming weeks we will be liaising with Football West to work on the best possible outcome for everyone to continue to play football, in the immediate future, under the proposed guidelines and in a safe environment for all involved.

In the meantime we thank you for your patience and commitment in keeping players engaged whilst the semi-lockdown restrictions have been in place.
