Joondalup United have been busy during the National Premier League (NPL) transfer window, adding four new players to the first team squad.
First team coach Nick Jennings knows that results need to improve with JUFC sitting on the bottom of the ladder but both he and the playing group are determined to turn things round.
“The mid-season break, and the opening of the transfer window, has seen plenty of movement of players around the league and I’m more than happy with the business that we have conducted in this manic period,” said Jennings.
“One out was Alex Wild to Balcatta but we’ve replaced his 1 goal in 13 games with a couple of top quality forwards in Jamie Gibson from Carramar who has been a long term target of mine and the return of the prolific and club talisman Lee Jones who has been snowboarding in Canada for a year but is determined to show people he hasn’t lost his goal touch.
“Add to that the energetic and physical presence of young Matt Cherrie from Stirling Lions, as well as, 21-year-old Liam Kessel from UWA, and it’s clear that we’ve added depth and quality to the squad.”
The new acquisitions will get their first opportunity to impress in the home game against Armadale Soccer Club which takes place this Saturday at Percy Doyle Reserve.
