Joondalup United’s Iona Mitchell will this month travel to Canberra as part of the School Sport Western Australia (SSWA) Girls State U12 squad.
The trip takes place between Saturday, August 24 and Friday, August 30 with 15 players selected as part of the squad.
Iona’s JUFC coach Gavin Knight is understandably delighted to see one of his players representing the black and gold over east.
“I want to congratulate Iona Mitchell I’m being selected for the U12s girls state school team that is heading to Canberra in August,” he said.
“Iona has been a great asset to our squad and is improving every week; I have also told Iona it is a great achievement to represent your state in any sport and should enjoy every second of it.
“I wish Iona the best on the trip and good luck to the U12 boys and girls state team that is heading over to Canberra.”
The squad will play games across the week and pick up some vital experience playing against sides from other parts of the country.
