Meanwhile, club loyalist Joel Wigglesworth and former player James Spurry have been name co-coaches for our Amateur Reserves side.

Overlooking the squad and all operational matters will be Patrick Lawless along with a new committee members including Blaine Slater, Adam Rogers, Adam Taylor and Simon Rushton.

The group has been working hard behind the scenes since the last game of the 2021 campaign.

“It was very disappointing season for us and the league table doesn’t lie, despite my belief that our playing group was better than results suggested,” said Sherwin.

“However, JUFC is built on a strong culture so we have re-grouped for 2022 with most of the lads keen to make amends and get us back to the Premier Division. We have begun the recruitment process and look forward to adding to a talented squad.

Sherwin also extended his gratitude for the club in their trust in his re-appointment.

“JUFC have been supportive to the Amateurs and myself both on and off the park over the years so we owe it to the club to perform well in what is set to be a very competitive league,” he said.

“I have just completed the B Licence course and we are giving opportunities to other lads to get onto the coaching ladder which is important for the long term future of the club.”

Joondalup United Football Club established itself from the Amateur side back in 2000.

“Historically, this is an important team for the club as many past players and club officials have played and still play for our Amateurs,” said club president Ghaz Ramli

“This is why the club believes in continuing the culture and all of our appointments are players and members who have been with JUFC for many years. I wish them all the best for their upcoming tasks.

The Amateurs have already started preparations for next season with Thursday sessions at Area 5 in Wanneroo. Full preseason will commence on Tuesday, 11 January 2022 at Beldon Park.
